The journey to motherhood is often bittersweet.
Society tells us that becoming a mother will be a natural, seamless process filled with joyous moments. Unfortunately, this is often not the reality. Many women face a range of challenges, such as infertility, pregnancy loss, and perinatal depression and anxiety.
I recognize and acknowledge that this can be a difficult time, and I am here to support you regardless of where you are in your journey. My focus is providing a safe space, exploring coping tools and offering strength-based solutions that can help restore your emotional well-being.
Hello, I’m Christine.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who is certified in perinatal mental health. I specialize in helping women as they approach motherhood—regardless of the stage you are in—to feel prepared, healthy, and ready to regain some control.
Clients who work with me appreciate that they come away with specific tools they can use in their everyday life. They appreciate my knowledge about the unique challenges of this phase and take comfort in knowing I will go at their pace while mindful of the goals we set for our work together.
I know your journey has not been easy, and that at times you’ve questioned when you will start to feel better, and if you will ever get there. I’m here to help you find a path forward, as I walk alongside you on the road to healing. Therapy should help you feel better about yourself and able to live your life with more joy, comfort, and contentment. I’m so glad you’re here.
Counseling Specialties
The road to motherhood can be very rocky. Difficulty with conceiving often brings about emotions that are painful and hard to manage, and pregnancy challenges are often compounded by complex medical issues. I am here to help you sort through these emotions, find strategies to cope with the many difficult situations surrounding infertility treatment, and generally navigate this strenuous time.
The loss of a baby, no matter how far along you are in pregnancy, can be one of the most painful life events a woman can experience. While grieving, you may experience a wide range of emotions in response to this loss. Counseling during this hard time can offer you support and a safe space to manage this difficult period.
Women can experience a range of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) from the time of conception until up to a year after delivery, with symptoms ranging from depression, anxiety, withdrawal, isolation, irritability, to even scary and intrusive thoughts. These are all treatable. Together we can work to help you feel more emotionally healthy, as well as able to face the daily challenges of being a parent.
